Dear all,
in time for the recent CeBIT in Sydney, we managed to bring out a new,
drupal-based www.annodex.net site. I think it rocks!
The design was done by Andrea Pedersen, who also put many hours into
transforming it into the new drupal theme that we are using on the site.
Fighting with the different browsers and their presentation of the site was
a major undertaking, but we finally ruled over IE (who was the toughest). A
big thank you to Andrea!
The content on the site has mainly come from the old site, but I took
advantage of the move to extend it. There is most certainly information that
I have missed. This is supposed to be a more dynamic site and you should
feel free to contribute.
To create new entries, you have to do the following:
- enter the site (just get past the front page somehow, e.g. go to sitemap)
- on the left under your name there is a "create content" item: click on
that
- if you'd like to add a news story, click "story"
- if you'd like to add an item anywhere else, click "page"
(there isn't much of a difference in meaning between story and page in
drupal, so by default just use page)
- give the item a title, select under which heading(s) it should appear,
enter your text, and hit "submit": there is no need to change any of the
other settings for the item
The item will then be published at the top of the list under the selected
heading(s); it may not be completely at the top because some pages are
sticky at the top of the list. But in general, the pages are ordered by
entry date (which incidentally can be changed manually).
Entries entered under "community -> news" are promoted to the front page.
If you need to attach a file, use the "File attachment" on your item.
As for editing: with many items there is just a short first paragraph that
appears in the categories (headings). You will only get the full item if you
click on it. If you do not like the way drupal automatically clips what goes
on the category view, put a line with "<!--break-->" into your item text at
the appropriate location.
Happy editing!
Cheers,
Silvia.
