I'll be brief, because it's 2 am and I want to go and have some sleep.

>From the so-called anime caption formats, ASS is the most powerful.
It is not beautiful, but it really is amazingly advanced in what it
does, able to create crazy karaoke effects and much more.

However, using this (or another) format alongside CMML means forcing
browsers to support yet another format.  Not good.  It's overkill,
more work, etc.

If CMML isn't ready for captioining as I thought it was, then it
should be extended.  And fast.  With captioning a requirement in HTML
5 we have to provide it before we lose the browser vendors interest.
