Yep - I get a file of zero bytes.

I got three replies (Silvia, Conrad and Benno) in minutes - very
impressive - scary even!

Files on the way Benno - thanks.  I'll get on with using anxenc in the
meantime, and can parse my cmml with DOM.  Having lots of fun writing
code again - the joys of research leave.
